Omega-3s May Help Lower Blood Pressure
EPA and DHA omega-3s may slightly lower blood pressure, especially for people with high blood pressure.
9/22/2026EPA and DHA omega-3s may lower blood pressure a little, especially in people with high blood pressure.
A meta-analysis of 71 clinical studies found that taking 2–3 g of EPA and DHA each day was linked to an average drop of about 2.6 mmHg in systolic blood pressure. The effect was even bigger in people with high blood pressure.
Omega-3s may help with blood-pressure control, but they do not replace healthy lifestyle changes or treatment recommended by a doctor.
