Dolní Vítkovice: A Giant Industrial Site

Dolní Vítkovice is a national cultural monument of the Czech Republic near the center of Ostrava, in the areas of Vítkovice and Moravian Ostrava.

It includes part of the former Vítkovice Ironworks and its unique industrial architecture. Its most important feature is a preserved production line made up of the Hlubina coal mine, a coke plant, and blast furnaces.

In one place, the whole process used to happen: from mining coal, through making coke, to smelting pig iron.
