Xylitol is a popular sugar substitute, but it can be deadly dangerous for dogs.

After a dog eats xylitol, it is absorbed into the bloodstream very quickly. The pancreas responds by releasing insulin suddenly, which can cause a fast drop in blood sugar called hypoglycemia. This can happen as soon as 30 minutes to 2 hours after eating it.
