Why Some Aquarium Fish Glow

Colorful aquarium fish do not always get their colors from nature or selective breeding. Some are artificially colored by injecting dyes, tattooing, or soaking them in coloring solutions.

There are also genetically modified fish with genes that code for fluorescent proteins. Their bodies can glow brightly under the right lighting, such as blue or UV light.
